Let’s cut right to the chase because if your attention span is like mine, you’re barely reading this sentence. I don’t need to tell you that as a marketer, it’s NOISEY out there, and people give you .00001 of a second to capture their attention.

Once you’ve figured out your why, brand voice, and positioning, you can use these hacks to ensure your content is scannable and captivating.

🍋 Making your content scannable means lots of bullet points and spaces. It’s an English major’s nightmare. Most marketing emails start a new paragraph with every sentence. You’re sacrificing the English language for sales.

🍋 Use your subject line or first sentence in content as a headline or a hook. Your only goal is to get them to keep reading. Make it exciting or sensational with something like ‘Beyonce sucks!’

🍋  Make a mistake on purpose. Make sure this aligns with your brand and that you tie it together so it makes sense. TikTokkers will always pronounce things wrong just to amp up the comments and engagement on their posts.

🍋  Give a sneak peek of the benefits. Tell them immediately what they’ll get by continuing to read. Will they learn the secret of life? Or what actually happened with the Titanic sub?

It’s fun to break up content with emojis, pictures, and gifs, but keep in mind the headspace of your audience and where they are. They have more patience reading your emails than watching a TikTok, so your goal might be driving them elsewhere.
