Know these rules (before you decide to break them)…
Know Your ‘EST’ – This comes down to positioning. You need to know that you are the ‘est’ compared to your competitors. Is your product the healthiest, the cheapest, or the most convenient?
Features Vs. Benefits – Rarely are people going to get fired up about the features of a product (as case made of pure steel!) vs what it does for them (an unbreakable case that saves you money!) so make sure to paint a clear picture of how their life will change because of the features.
Rule of 7 – Experts say this number is higher and it will vary depending on the complexity and price of your product. But the idea is that your audience needs to be exposed to you brand and offer around 7 times before they respond to your call to action.
80/20 – This really does depend on what people expect from your brand but this rule states that you should be giving value to your audience 80% of the time and selling 20% of the time. But keep in mind why people are subscribed or following your content, it might simple be for sales so take this with a grain of salt.
Appealing to Everyone – Appealing to everyone means you’re not really appealing to anyone. You should get repealing some people, you should be getting strong responses on both sides and if you’re not , then you’re likely not leaning into your brand voice enough.
😃 I’ve been in the marketing game for around 15 years (holy moly) and these are rules that NEVER change. However, I will say that rules are meant to be broken but you need to know what they are before you decide how to break them.
