This isn’t going to make me popular.
Here are a few of my unpopular opinions and takes when it comes to social media, marketing and branding:
- 99% of the time, it isn’t the algorithm. Maybe it’s not Facebook, maybe you have a positioning and storytelling problem.
- We’re not asking the right questions. Maybe we should be asking if the content is ‘boring’ or ‘interesting’ instead of worrying about our strategy.
- A huge audience doesn’t mean sales. Just because you have a lot of followers, that doesn’t mean it will convert into sales. It matters how engaged they are.
- You can’t say everything at once. You don’t need to have all of your talking points on every post and every touch point.
- The best marketing can’t be measured. Think brand-building events, exciting partnerships and the long-game of building relationships and community through experiences.
😑 Are we fighting over the last one?
